Rear differential bushing replacement in BMW E46 with TED99705 puller

This manual shows step by steps how to replace the rear differential bushing 00082043 using the TED99705 puller on a BMW E46.

Drop the rear muffler from the rear hanger and place it on a support.

Remove the heat shield that is over the exhaust.

Unscrew the bolts on the stabilizer cushion clamps.

Unscrew the axle shafts from the differential.

Unscrew the rear aluminium differential bracket.

Unscrew the driveshaft from the differential.

Place the differential on the support.

Unscrew the rear differential bushing.

Unscrew the two screws on the front differential bushings and remove the differential.

The old bushing that will be replaced.

Mount the puller.

Pull out the old bushing.

Before installing the new bushing, clean and lubricate the socket.

Put the puller together with a new bushing. Remember to place it correctly in the socket. The bushing is not symmetrical.

Pull in the bushing. The bushing is correctly pressed in.
