TED26607 Bushing Installation Instructions (Manual #49)

One of the ways to improve the durability of a car suspension is to use polyurethane bushes instead of standard rubber ones. Due to their operating characteristics, polyurethane bushings often differ in design and installation method from standard bushes. An example of this is the upper control arm bush in Ford (Galaxy II, Mondeo IV, S-Max) and Volvo (S60 II, V60 I, V70 III, XC60 I, XC70 II) cars. In this case, the standard one-piece metal-rubber bush is replaced by a 4-piece polyurethane bush consisting of an outer metal bush, an inner metal bush and 2 polyurethane parts. When installing the bush, the correct order of assembly of the components is important so that the new bush fulfils its task properly.

The instructions below show you how to properly replace this element.

1

The previous bushings must be removed,
then the sockets must be thoroughly cleaned.

2

The metal bushings should be greased on the outside and pressed into the socket. Then the polyurethane bushings should be greased on the outside and placed in the metal bushings.

3

From the bottom, place the second polyurethane bushings
(after greasing them), then press in the metal bushings, making sure that all the bushings are evenly placed.
